US-Ireland Working Holiday Program Extended
The Working Holiday/Intern Work and Travel Program between the United States and Ireland has been extended for a further five years.
The US Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Claire Cronin, and the Irish Minister of State for European Affairs and Defense, Peter Burke, are reported to have signed the statement of intent between the two nations on January 27, 2023.
The program, which was first established in 2008, enables Irish nationals or legal permanent residents who are students or recent graduates to live and work in the USA for up to 12 months.
American citizens and legal residents who meet the same qualifying standards may also use the program to go to Ireland and remain there for up to a year.
Mr Burke commented that the program gives recent graduates and students the chance to experience a different way of life while also highlighting how it strengthens ties between Ireland and the US.
